The Yealink phone models listed below will receive an overnight firmware update sometime between November 9th and 16th, 2021. Yealink desk phones check for updates automatically once per week, between 12:00AM and 4:00AM local time. When each device checks in, it then receives the firmware update.
Important Note: The Yealink desk phones will update automatically, and no action is required by you or your customer.
To force an update sooner, simply power the phones off and back on again any time after November 9th.
During this update, phones will update to firmware version: 96.85.107.4
Which models will be receiving the firmware update?
Yealink T53W
Yealink T54W
Yealink T57W
Why the firmware update?
Due to the global chipset shortage, Yealink has begun manufacturing phones with chipsets that are more common and available on the market. The current firmware for these devices will not support these new chipsets, so a new firmware is necessary.
SBO attempted this update in October to firmware version 96.85.107.3 but aborted this process due to an unexpected issue that emerged. The issue has been resolved in newer version 96.85.107.4, and 96.85.107.4 is still required by all phones in the field.
Phones will indicate they are updating firmware during this process. It is critically important that a phone not be interfered with, or powered off, during the update process. Doing so may render the phone permanently inoperable. If you experience any problems following the update, please contact Support.
We appreciate your business and want to make sure we are doing everything we can to help our partners and customers.
Thank you,
