Starting on June 1, 2022, the pricing for all Windows Server Licenses running on our cloud instances will change.
Here is what you need to know:
– SBO is moving to a simple and predictable pricing model for Windows licenses
– Windows Server Standard will cost $14/vCPU (per core)
– Windows Server Datacenter will cost $28/vCPU (per core)
– This pricing change ONLY affects the add-on price for Windows licenses and NOT your underlying infrastructure or bandwidth pricing
Why the changes?
– Microsoft raised prices on Windows Server on January 1, 2022, causing a necessary change to SBO pricing
– SBO is now able to offer Windows Server Datacenter as an option. This license allows you to run unlimited Windows guest VMs on SBO’s Bare Metal Servers, among other benefits (see the differences here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/editions-comparison-windows-server-2022)
– SBO’s previous Windows server pricing model was not consistent between server sizes and created confusion among customers, so we decided to go with a more standard per vCPU (per core) pricing model that aligns with how other cloud providers offer Windows licenses
